Beautiful place. Well maintained.

This church looks very unusual with its round towers.

a great city - after driving many kilometers past empty cities, there is something going on here in Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire in the evenings! No deserted streets, just events and people going out! We felt really comfortable!

Since there is no cycle path or cycle lane on these two bridges, one behind the other, you have to ride on the road. The only obstacle is the very long bridges. The oncoming traffic (including trucks) and the vehicles overtaking me (trucks and cars) were, however, considerate of us cyclists! At this point I would like to say that the French are the most considerate nation towards cyclists (+pedestrians) that I have ever experienced.

This church has two unusual towers built in 1781 which complement the choir rebuilt 300 years earlier after the Wars of Religion. Recent restorations have saved this beautiful work from ruin.

This ford can be deep enough to get your feet wet. There is no footbridge and the bottom is made of fairly large stones. Possibility of bypassing this passage by continuing straight on at the previous junction... but that's a shame.

Gateway to Burgundy when going up the course of the Loire, Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire is a charming Loire town. Its commercial town center is animated by its shops, restaurants and accommodation. Every Wednesday and Sunday the largest market in the department is held there. Also, the railway station is served daily by the Paris-Nevers axis.

The lock of Boisrond, in Bannay, was built in 1838, at the same time as the lateral canal of the Loire. It was accompanied by the original lock which housed the lock keeper and his family. The maneuvering of the locks takes place by crank, by the boaters themselves.
