Nice hike but quite physical, a steep climb. We left at 6:15 a.m., sometimes shady but beware the cardio makes the climb hot. Too bad we did not manage to reach the summit a few meters away, not marked at all, a hiker told us that he had reached it but lying down between the rocks.

Nestled on the west coast of Corsica, halfway between Ajaccio and Bonifacio, Propriano is one of the most famous seaside resorts on the island. The city offers a great diversity of landscapes between beaches, coves and lush maquis.

L'Uomo di Cagna (Omu di Cagna in Corsican) means "dog man", in reference to the two granite blocks that give the summit its anthropomorphic silhouette. It peaks at 1,217 m and offers a breathtaking view of the coast.

Not recommended in October, there are some wild boars. The climb is super nice, but unfortunately the last quarter is not.

6월 12, 2022, Plage d'Erbaju
The Plage d'Erbaju is and remains one of the most beautiful and "lonely" beaches in the Corse-Sud. Even if in 2022, from our point of view, almost crowds of people will have taken the hiking trail there. Once you get to the beach it still seems deserted. This time we had impressive, strong winds from the west and therefore meter-high waves and spray. The sand on Erbaju is very coarse, but this is very pleasant because it can be easily wiped off your feet and skin. When the weather is calm you can even snorkel near the rocks. However, from our point of view, the water on Erbaju is treacherous and you should be careful of offshore wind, currents and waves. With a bit of luck you can still find beautiful mussels on Erjabu. If you can and have the breath, you should definitely take the detour up to the Genoese Tower and the Lion's Head on the hike from Plage d'Roccapina over to Erbaju. The paths there are narrow, steep and sometimes only about 1.20m high. Sturdy shoes and little luggage are therefore advisable.

To discover Sartène, a typically Corsican town, you have to stroll between its tall granite houses and get lost in the labyrinth of alleys of the old town. Houses with dark facades line cobbled alleys in which it is good to get lost. Prosper Mérimée had named it in his eponymous book Sartène: the most Corsican town in Corsica. Be careful, many stairs will force you to continue on foot.

Driving through with the car is not very smart at any time of the day. The promenade along the sea and the harbor is lively and it is mostly busy: cars, people strolling, waiters walking across the street. The town beach of Propriano is small but still very beautiful. The water is turquoise, very clean and there are small rocks around it.

The town of Propriano is located in the Gulf of Valinco. It was created only one hundred and fifty years ago when a road was opened between Bonifacio and Ajaccio.
