In the heart of the picturesque village of Deux-Évailles, nestled in the department of Mayenne, sits the Saint-Martin Church, a true jewel of architectural and spiritual heritage. This church, which has gracefully survived the centuries, is much more than a simple place of worship; it embodies the rich and eventful history of the region. The history of Saint-Martin Church dates back to the Middle Ages, a time when the Christian faith was the pillar of daily life. The first traces of the church date back to the 12th century, when it was erected. Over the centuries, it has undergone transformations, renovations and additions which bear witness to the evolution of Gothic architecture and the importance of religion in society. During the French Revolution, the church witnessed major upheavals. Like many other religious buildings, it has been affected by acts of vandalism and has been used for secular purposes. Despite these trials, Saint-Martin Church survived and was restored in the 19th century, preserving its legacy for future generations. The Saint-Martin Church is distinguished by its remarkable architecture, mixing Romanesque and Gothic elements. The imposing facade, adorned with delicate sculptures, welcomes visitors with timeless elegance. There has been a church on this site since the 12th century, but the basilica you see in front of you was built in 1900. From the streets of Mayenne the church dominates and is very impressive.

This castle was built in the 10th century. Half a century later, the castle became a garrison castle. 400 years later, it served as a prison in the 18th century. In the middle of town, the castle gardens are worth wandering through for a quiet moment.

This lake on the banks of the Mayenne is a fantastic place for hiking. You will find hiking trails all around the lake itself and for more interest you can look for the ardens where you will find a vegetable patch.

The pond is a place of calm. You will enjoy walking along the water's edge with this body of water and its relaxing qualities, the fauna and flora and the landscape.

Built on the site of a former Carolingian residence of the 10th century, the castle, which dominates the old town, is the emblematic monument of Mayenne. Most of the visible elements date from the 13th century, in particular the dwelling and the circular keep. It houses the city museum, which exhibits objects from daily life in the Middle Ages. Medieval board games, including chess pieces and a backgammon board, are among the best-preserved pieces in the world.
