I am looking for a group of walkers in the St Florent region, to share the pleasure of relaxing hiking.

The beach of Nonza is an absolute highlight due to its special coloring. It can be reached via a steep descent. Alternatively, it is possible to climb to the watchtower in Nonza and enjoy a fantastic view of the beach.

The watchtower towers high above the famous Nonza Beach. There is a souvenir shop in the watchtower. The bluff on which the tower is built offers some fantastic views of the beach and the village of Nonza.

Superb little village of Nonza with its view of the sea, the large black sand beach and the houses with colorful facades. Stop at the Café de la Tour for lunch, the terrace, the plates and the boss are tip top.

Dominating Cap Corse, Monte Stello is the second highest peak in the Cap, at 1,306 meters. Apart from its neighbour, the Cima di e Follicie (1,324m), you won't find a better vantage point to enjoy the view of Cap Corse and the Mediterranean Sea.

We stayed in a holiday home in Pietracorbara last week and went to these pools several times. Very beautiful. I can highly recommend climbing up the mountain to the right of the river. Also a nice climbing tour for children. Here you can discover a river valley completely lined with old stone walls. There are several old, partially collapsed houses, what appears to be an old mill and many other indications that intensive agriculture used to be practiced here, as in the whole of Cap Corse. In one place there is still an old peach tree with fruit. The Gumpe can also be easily reached from Cortina above Pietracorbara via the yellow hiking trail.

Nonza draws its originality from the grouping of its habitat: unlike the other villages of Cap Corse broken up into hamlets, Nonza, a listed village, is one with the rocky peak (U Monte) crowned by the Paoline tower (built by Pascal Paoli in 1760). The entire coast north of the village of Nonza is made up of an immense beach of sand and black pebbles from the sterile mining rubble of the former Canari-Abro asbestos quarry. The factory was closed in 1965. As a result, the Marina di Nonza from where the boats left for the Agriate disappeared, blocked by rubble. Since then, the sea has gradually regained its rights on this beach which, in the middle of the 20th century, was twice as wide as today. The climb (on foot) to the rocky peak and the tower is worth the detour because it offers a superb panorama of the beach and the town.

A legend has grown up around the tower: it was besieged by the French in 1768. The responsible captain Casella, who was abandoned by his fearful soldiers, had to defend himself against the overwhelming force of the French. He put a rifle in each window and ran frantically from one rifle to another, pulling the trigger. The French had the impression that there was a whole troop of soldiers in the tower and were ready to negotiate. So the tower was saved.

Very nicely located place with a great view of the beach below. I only stopped briefly for a photo because there were lots of tourist cars parked - too much hustle and bustle!

The village of Nonza is a haven on the road to Cap Corse. The view of the large beach below is remarkable. A stop is more than recommended at the Café de la Tour which you cannot miss. A fountain in the shade of the plane trees is located right next to the bar, and a little further you have this beautiful church to visit.

The small, gray-colored stones of the beach got their color from serpentinite, which was mined in a now-closed Canari asbestos factory. A stone staircase with over 1000 steps leads from Nonza down to the mostly deserted beach.

The ascent is easy to do and well marked. From the summit you can enjoy a great view
