From 1948 to 1998 this center made it possible to communicate with ships at sea all over the world. For fishermen, merchant navy sailors, boaters, it was their only link with the land, accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The center employed up to 150 people before its closure in 1998, as a result the appearance of new technologies that are easier to implement.
