A small village to absolutely discover

I thought that the ruins were freely accessible. They are not, but are cordoned off. Tour costs €8.50 from 1.30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Built on a feudal mound, these ruins are those of the castle founded in 1097. It was one of the ducal castles controlling the Epte River, which then marked the border between Normandy and the Kingdom of France. Given its location, which makes it visible for miles around and offers a panoramic view of the surrounding area, the strategic importance of this position is easily understood. It is currently undergoing major restoration work supported by the Heritage Foundation with the aim of one day making the site accessible to the general public. The road runs around the ramparts.

Right next to the lobby there is a bakery. They are used to welcoming cyclists. Everything is homemade, they are very nice. Table and chairs outside sheltered for eating. I've been there twice, never disappointed.

The Moulin de Fourges is a magical place built at the end of the 18th century, with architecture inspired by Queen Marie-Antoinette's hamlet at the Palace of Versailles. At the gates of the Vexin park, this listed site offers a truly bucolic setting with its country garden on the banks of the Epte river.
