At the beginning of the route the path is very overgrown, much overhanging greenery. At the hermit's chapel the road is closed. Attempts to cross the bridge are at your own risk. Caution is advised.

The Canal du Nivernais is a watershed canal; with 32 locks it goes up 74 m to 260 m above sea level and with 78 locks it goes down 165 m. The highest section leads through 3 tunnels near the municipality of La Collancelle. The Sardy lock staircase is worth seeing; with 16 locks over 3.50 km it goes down quickly.

Absolutely great village, perfect silence!

The Château d’Aunay-les Bois is listed as a historic monument. It is presented in a predominantly 17th century condition, probably on older bases. It underwent significant work campaigns in the 18th century. In 2021, the fire spread to the entire castle and only the northeast tower retained its roof and floor.

Otherwise called the Chapelle d’Épiry. It is located on the banks of the Yonne in the hamlet of Chandelier, in the commune of Épiry. According to several legends, it had a miraculous spring on the hillside, the spring cured sore throats and lungs. The Chapel was built for a hermit. Its Bell dated 1600.

Attention on 06/08/23, bridge of the candlestick closed. Impossible to pass over the Yonne, even on foot (too much current to watch)

Here you can take a break. Useful information: The beautiful little chapel on the banks of the Yonne in Chandelier, a hamlet of Epiry, was built for a hermit. It contained three ancient wooden statues: one represented St. Elymon or Elymond with his head carried away in his hands as Saint-Denis protecting the church of Epiry. The only remaining remnant is a fresco in the small room at the back.

The Nivernais canal connects the Loire basin and that of the Yonne. The canal is punctuated by four locks and bordered by a cycle path bordered by the forest.
