Breathtaking view of the Mafate cirque but the stone path is not very pleasant. The return via the Glacière is easier but the view is much less spectacular.

The Grand Bénare is an unmissable peak in Reunion. Culminating at 2,898 meters above sea level, it faces the Piton des Neiges and dominates the circuses of Mafate and Cilaos. This summit is accessible from Maïdo by following the Grand Bord path. It is advisable to leave early in the morning in order to take full advantage of the exceptional panoramas offered by this summit.
