7월 23, 2025, Île Sainte-Lucie via Canal de la Robine
Peaceful corner. Too bad a passage was destroyed by the company that buried the fiber. The banks of the river are really lacking in maintenance, it's hard to cross in places, the path was so pleasant before this work, I hope VNF will improve these points. A tricky trick

6월 22, 2025, Piste cyclable sur le canal de la Robine
In 2025, the route is very degraded following work carried out by VNF (burying a telecom cable). Mountain biking recommended, avoid at all costs towing a trailer or transporting a child).

Walking along the piers that run along the lagoon allows you to enjoy unique views as well as admire up close the numerous birds that populate it.

Even with a headwind, there are beautiful views of the canal, lagoon and salt marshes. But the terrain is difficult and hardly suitable for racing bikes.

The section is certainly very beautiful and attractive when the weather is nice. But when the wind blows, or like mine it's almost stormy, it's not an easy passage. There are almost no bushes or trees to block the wind.

Very nice route. Be careful though: after storms, many really very muddy areas on this fairly hilly route (holes, roots...). Also consider mosquito spray. None of this takes anything away from the charm of this outing...!

Beautiful circuit but with a very uneven surface, from very good to bad. I had planned to go back and forth but I did not arrive at Port la Nouvelle (less than 6km) because of the tramontana estimated at 50km/h that day. I kept reserves for the return against the wind. The landscapes crossed are very varied and the part south of Narbonne is very wild.

Saint Lucia Island is a regional nature reserve, dogs are prohibited there. A very nice walk accessible to all, on a very passable path. There are many extraordinary viewpoints to discover.

Magnificent Canal by bike! You just have to hope not to have too much wind :) This canal follows the old bed of the Aude that the Romans already traveled by boat to the sea. It was built in the 14th century to supply water to the mills in the town of Narbonne. The commercial success of the Canal du Midi in the 17th century was so important that Vauban and Seignelay proposed connecting the Canal des Deux-Mers to Narbonne. On July 2, 1686, the advice of King Louis desires which will be made by Mr. Riquet, engineer of his majesty. Antoine Niquet, general engineer of the fortifications of Provence, Dauphiné, and Languedoc drew plans for the future Robine junction canal in 1688. The estimate was presented on February 2. Canalization efforts were then undertaken to prepare the Robine to open to navigation. The locks between Aude and Narbonne were built around 1686. The difficult work extended over several years and was entrusted in particular to engineers who had participated in the construction of the Canal du Midi such as the entrepreneur, André de Lambert, ordinary engineer of the king, former collaborator of Pierre-Paul Riquet and the Chevalier de Clerville, who received on March 16, 1692, from the intendant, and for a sum of 67,000 pounds, the award of the works of the Roubine canal in Narbonne .
