The village makes a somewhat dreary impression, but has a long history. Springs were tapped here by the Romans as early as the 1st century to supply the city of Metz with water. Starting and finishing point for many mountain bike outings, the Saint-Clément cross is also a legendary place since Clément, coming from Rome, would have stopped there and kneeling in front of Metz, would have marked the rock with his knees. . He needed at least this strength to defeat the famous Dragon Graouilly, symbol of pre-Christian beliefs to be destroyed. If the dragon is dead, its legend lives on and is still alive in Metz today.

The statue is made of cast iron covered with gold leaf and rests on a rock 9.25m high. Built in 1868, as a thank you, because the graces of Our Lady had preserved them from the devastating epidemics of cholera which hit the region at that time.
