Cape Leucate is a unique cape due to its location. It is one of the rare places where you can simultaneously observe the Pyrenees, the Montagne Noire, Mont Saint-Loup and the Montagne de la Clape from the coast. Its plateau, which ends in cliffs, also creates a beautiful natural setting.

Dating from the 17th century, this redoubt allowed surveillance of the coast, with two other forts which have now disappeared2. This construction is also a former navigation aid lighthouse. The building was listed as a historic monument in 1971.
