As this walk is not a loop it might be challenging to get back to where you started. In summer there is a bus shuttle you can take from Cheylade to Dienne (with a stop-over on the Col de Serre). Like that you can leave your car in Cheylade, use the transport to get to Dienne and then walk back!! Lac Sauvage is aptly named: away from the main roads, it offers a moment of change of scenery and tranquility. There is a restaurant there, Auberge du Lac Sauvage, which serves an excellent truffade, a typical dish that does not include truffles. So why this name? In fact, the name truffade comes from Occitan and means potato, in the Auvergne dialect.

An essential stopover in this little corner of paradise.

With its 1,620 meters above sea level, the Puy de Niermont is the roof of the Limont plateau. From its summit, a scenic view opens up to those who climb it. To the south, you can observe the Puy Mary and to the north, the Puy de Sancy. In good weather, its sides are very popular with paragliders in the region.
