Sunrise at Batur is nice, as it is on every mountain. Maybe a bit overrated as it's often cloudy in the morning and very busy; the view is also very enjoyable the rest of the day. But the hike isn't too long and easily feasible in the dark.

The climb was possible in sneakers, even when it was raining. Do not forget rain jacket!
