Very nice pass on the Italo-Swiss border, much less frequented than its big brother. It is located at the foot of Mont Dolet, just northwest of the Tête de Ferret, which separates it from the Grand Col Ferret, just one kilometer away. From there, you can reach the combe des Fonds, on the Swiss side, or the Riffugio Elena, on the Italian side. A path also joins the Grand Col Ferret passing just below the head, or the Cesare Fiorio bivouac, at the foot of the Pré de Bar glacier, in Italy. The climb on the Swiss side is often cluttered with snow until late in the season, and is very steep on the Italian side, in grassy paths.

The "Refuge de La Flégère" is an old alpine hut whose construction predates the much more modern cable car that currently connects the valley. The stone building is built and furnished all in wood. The showers have running hot water (no token required). No food is allowed inside, probable cause is the easy infestation of rats in the crevices of the wooden building. Numerous dorms and dormitories can accommodate a hundred people, if not more. Perfect stop to rest before the hard descent down the valley on the last leg of the TMB
