Viñamala Peak (French: Vignemale; Aragonese: Comachibosa) is located in the Pyrenees, between the province of Huesca (Spain) and the department of Hautes-Pyrénées (France). On the Spanish side (Bujaruelo Valley), it forms part of the peripheral zone of the Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park, while on the French side it is within the Pyrenees National Park. It is the highest peak in the French Pyrenees (3,299 m) and the mountain range to which it belongs.

A very nice hiking and climbing tour, but you should have a head for heights. The view from the summit makes you forget the effort. Our dog also managed it, but Lenchen needed support every now and then. We returned the same way because the suggested route was too dangerous. Locals gave us the information that there is actually no path there. So no round trip.

On the path which connects Eaux-Bonnes to the heights of Gourette, a magnificent panorama opens up over the Petit and Grand Gabizos which peak respectively at 2,639 and 2,692 meters above sea level.

The Vignemale, the Pique Longe, is the highest of the peaks located in the axial chain of the Pyrenees. It preserves the best glacier in the Pyrenees, the greatest wall, the most famous ice climbing... It also groups a dozen three thousand that you can walk on ridges of little difficulty. Vignemale is one of the most beautiful enclaves in the entire Pyrenees.

The final shovel of the ascent to the top can present slopes of 40/45o and when the snow is hard it will be necessary to finish the ascent walking with crampons and a touring ice ax to reach the magnificent viewpoint of the summit, with extraordinary views of the eastern sector of the Aragonese Pyrenees. The slopes of Algas and Argualas also offer worthwhile mountain routes, each of the three peaks has an orientation (south, east and north) and you can choose a slope depending on the temperature or the state of the snow at any given time.
