Little Rock Creek Lake is the objective at the end of the Little Rock Creek trail in the Bitterroot Range. It's a beautiful alpine lake that often reflects the surrounding mountains in its water. The hike to the lake from the trailhead takes around two to three hours.

Ward Mountain's summit offers superb views across the Bitterroot Range. The main ascent route is a relatively gradual, if strenuous, hike, making it a popular objective for enthusiastic hikers visiting the region. The main trail heads up the northeast ridge.

Lake Como combined with El Capitan? Surely not? Well, it's neither the famous Yosemite El Capitan or Italy's beautiful Lake Como, but the Bitterroot's Como and El Cap are spectacular in their own right. The Little Rock Creek Trail leaves Lake Como behind to venture deep into the Bitterroot Range, towards Como Peaks and El Capitan, which tower majestically. On a still day, El Capitan is reflected beautifully in Little Rock Creek Lake, at the end of the trail.

The Sawtooth Creek Trail delves deep through one of the Bitterroot Range's canyons. It is accessed from a trailhead that also gives access to Ward Mountain, the Roaring Lion Trail and Goat Mountain, which the Sawtooth Creek Trail arcs around initially. The trail is notable for its large patches of huckleberry in its upper reaches.

The Roaring Lion Trail offers glorious Bitterroot views. It is accessed from the same trailhead as the Sawtooth Creek Trail and the Ward Mountain Trail, though there is also parking further up the track. The path follows the course of the Roaring Lion Creek.

The trailhead here gives access to a quartet of spectacular hiking routes in the Bitterroot Range. The strenuous hike up to Ward Mountain begins here, as well as the Roaring Lion Trail, the Sawtooth Creek Trail and the trail to Goat Mountain.

Not to be confused with the famous Lake Como in Italy, Montana's Lake Como is also a beautiful body of water surrounded by some impressive mountain peaks. A walk around the lake is mostly level and makes for a relatively easy amble. Keep your eyes peeled for birds of prey, such as bald eagles and ospreys.
