Here is the route for the ascent of the Col d'Ayen starting from Saint-Clair, via the legendary road through the Verdon Gorges!

The route is breathtakingly beautiful and the climb is pleasant to ride. At the beginning of October, when many campsites are already closed, there is not much traffic.

It looks like the water has cut the mountains in two.

MAGNIFICENT 2nd mountain bike outing for our Thalasso and mountain bike holidays (happiness) in Gréoux les Bains. We left Saint Julien le Montagnier, heading towards Lake Esparron through the mountain! This is a course that should be classified as a MUST-SEE!! Paths, diverse and varied landscapes are magnificent and a superb view of Lake Esparron. Do not take into account wet weather and also electric mountain bikes because there are steep passages where you have to carry the mountain bike and it is quite dangerous. We had a great day, and after the effort we had a massage for comfort!

The Sainte-Croix lake, the third largest artificial lake in France, will enchant you with its turquoise color and the beauty of the different points of view it offers!

Pretty climb, a first part offers beautiful views of the gorges before moving away in the shade of the trees then in the meadows.

A good point for views of the Verdon flowing through the gorge here. On the other side of the bridge you can rent kayaks to sail through the canyon. Walk along the water into the gorge to follow the GR99, a long distance hiking trail. Here you can make a walk along the water and through the forest.
