A magnificent spot with the road winding under the rock, running alongside a partially underground stream. It's both breathtaking and peaceful. Plus, there's a starting point for a short walk; I did the beginning and it was lovely: I'd love to come back and do a longer section!

Don't trust the no trespassing sign. Private property! Danger of death prohibited! We almost missed it because of those two signs! You have to be careful, yes, like everywhere! But to put danger of death 🙄! Plus, there's a lifeline where there would be danger! But honestly, we didn't see any danger! Done with an 8-year-old, no problem!

Sunset Spot

Sainte-Croix-Volvestre, set in the hilly landscape of Ariège, seduces with its medieval character and its tranquility. The 16th century church dominates the village. Local market, winding streets and surrounding nature make it a place of relaxation. Stroll along the Volp or near the lake!

In this magnificent prehistoric cave, crossed in its entirety by both the Arize river and a road, prehistoric portable art dating from the Azilian was discovered. This beautiful village is at the crossroads between the mountains and the plain. Its weekly market is really famous and attracts a lot of originals and people who live a bit on the margins of society. We thus meet a heterogeneous crowd as well as craftsmen and traders selling quality products. When the gendarmes arrive to carry out checks, out of solidarity, everyone warns each other. For that, Montbrun makes me think of a village of irreducible Gauls. Apart from Sunday which is lively, there are often deserted streets, but also the best baker in the area.

This magnificent little village is located on a height. The brick terraces of the southern part of the city overlook the Pyrenees and offer splendid sunsets. Carla-Bayle owes its name to the French philosopher Pierre Bayle, born in the village in 1647. He was a scholar and a thinker mixing skepticism and rationalism. He is the author of the famous historical and critical dictionary of 1697 which announces the spirit of the Enlightenment. So much so that encyclopaedists will hail Bayle as one of their inspirations. Here is one of his famous quotes: "The more we study man, the more we know that pride is his dominant passion, and that it affects greatness even in the saddest misery." Come stroll through the streets of Carla, you won't regret it.

You follow Arize, cushy, when you wonder where you're going to end up getting out of this valley, and there, BOOM, THE BIG HOLE. Spectacular. In the water, it's noisy and dark. Stay focused on the road, the gutter is cruel.
