Nice view near this bridge, before the climb!

Beautiful greenway recently renovated with a good gravel surface.

By this road (which turns out to have a good percentage of ascent), we again take a little height. The mountains at the bend of very pretty curves on the road and in the landscape appear in all their majesty. This beautiful countryside bears the name of Pyrenean Piedmont.

This magnificent little village is located on a height. The brick terraces of the southern part of the city overlook the Pyrenees and offer splendid sunsets. Carla-Bayle owes its name to the French philosopher Pierre Bayle, born in the village in 1647. He was a scholar and a thinker mixing skepticism and rationalism. He is the author of the famous historical and critical dictionary of 1697 which announces the spirit of the Enlightenment. So much so that encyclopaedists will hail Bayle as one of their inspirations. Here is one of his famous quotes: "The more we study man, the more we know that pride is his dominant passion, and that it affects greatness even in the saddest misery." Come stroll through the streets of Carla, you won't regret it.

A nice stretch to get you into Pamiers. An old, abandoned, railroad which you can follow straight into Pamiers. Not in such a good shape as the better know 'Voie Verte' but still a good ride.

A short but steep climb out of the town of Bonnac in order to get from the Airège valley towards the ridge. Simply following the D36. The beginning is around 12 %, then it gets better.

Very pretty road (and pretty climb) which will bring you to the very pretty site of Carla-Bayle.

A nice spot for a lunch near the church next to the river. Start of the 'Pailhes' climb and crossing in the direction of Foix (D919)
