This passage through the heart of a Douglas fir forest exudes a unique atmosphere. The path, carefully laid out between two low mossy stone walls, invites you to step back in time and savor the tranquility of the woods. The light filters through the dense trunks, creating a play of shadows and chiaroscuro that reinforces the impression of walking through a secret corridor. The dry stone walls, weathered by centuries and covered with lichen, create an almost monumental path, like an ancient mule track built to last. Their presence gives the place a discreet majesty, recalling the patient work of past generations. Here, the raised roots testify to the power of the forest, while the carpet of pine needles cushions your steps and diffuses the resinous scent typical of Douglas fir trees. Further down, the path reaches brighter areas where ferns and chestnut trees take over, providing a softer, greener touch. An ideal segment to immerse yourself in a deep forest atmosphere, feel the freshness of the undergrowth and contemplate a natural and human heritage that has stood the test of time.

The church of Gluiras is a small, typically Ardèche country church, simple yet rich in detail. It features a bright nave with wooden pews, a vaulted choir dominated by a crucifix, and an altar surrounded by candlesticks. The wooden pulpit, polychrome statues, and paintings—including a Last Supper—recall the fervor of yesteryear. The Stations of the Cross adorn the walls, while chandeliers and candlesticks add a touch of solemnity. At the rear of the choir, the apse houses semicircular stalls, an intimate space where sung services were once held. This section of the GR offers a magnificent view from a balcony overlooking the Moulinas and La Roche viaducts. The bumpy sections punctuate the walk, which is not monotonous.
