The Eggerhöheweg runs over four hills: Waldegg, Kuenzenegg, Hüsleregg, Schäflisegg. Teufen and Speicher are in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden, as is the entire high-altitude trail except for the border stone, which lies to the north of the trail. The areas north of the hike are border areas of the canton of St. Gallen.
