Beautiful garden restaurant, surprisingly quiet and beautifully shady.

The Freudenau Castle ruins are idyllically situated above the banks of the Aare River near Stilli and are a silent witness to medieval history. Built around 1240 by the Habsburgs, they once served to control the river crossing and as a transshipment point for goods. Today, the remains of the residential tower and the surrounding wall still survive. The ruins are freely accessible and easily accessible via hiking trails – a worthwhile detour for anyone seeking to combine nature and history.

The country inn "Zum Hirschen" literally invites you in. It offers good, home-style cooking. Plenty of outdoor seating. It's also located on the village square, so you're never alone! People meet up and interact with one another.

This is the Aare, the Vogelsang bridge. And the view of the Aare is wonderful. On the peninsula between the Aare and Limmat is the site of the former BAG. As in many places in Aargau, there are still traces of industrialization here. Some old factory buildings are still there too. Stop and marvel, and not just at the Aare. On the Lauffohr side there is a nature reserve with beavers, on the Vogelsang side there are also barbecue areas towards the tip of the peninsula.

The weir in Unterwindisch is one of the very few double weirs in Switzerland. Originally, there were workshops and factories on the left and right banks of the Reuss that were dependent on water power.
