In the town of Basauri, at the confluence of the Nervión and Ibaizabal rivers, the Bilbao Estuary is born, the economic engine of the city of Bilbao throughout its history. This 23-kilometre-long estuary crosses Bilbao until it flows into the Cantabrian Sea, thus dividing the city into two very different parts.
