Bagnères-de-Bigorre is at the foot of the emblematic Pic du Midi. This spa resort, which dates back to antiquity, is located in a peaceful natural setting. The town is about thirty kilometers from the Col du Tourmalet. The Col d'Aspin, another legend of the Tour de France, is also not far away.

The Col de Beyrède peaks at 1,417 meters above sea level. Much less frequented than the Col d'Aspin, it offers incredible tranquility throughout the climb. I suggest you climb from the side that overlooks the Col d'Aspin. Indeed the road is sometimes in poor condition, which would make the descent more dangerous.

It is indeed a very pretty road. Out of season I have already seen wild animals (hare, deer,...). By bike it's already hard as a climb but very short for a trained cyclist. Go down to Ancizan to go up the Col d'Aspin from Arreau if your legs allow it.
