Loops

This is a superb loop mostly through the Haute Fagnes-Eiffel Nature Park as well as over the pristine Vennbahn, almost entirely on forest and cycle paths.



Recommended: 20km into the ride there is an opportunity to detour to the picturesque German village of Monshau, largely unchanged for 300 years. Monshau

This varied loop links together three converted railway lines of the RAVeL network, starting with one that originates in Spa and passes by the Spa Formula 1 race track.



Recommended: As an extension you can climb Cote de Stockeu, an historic climb of the Liege Bastione Liege pro race.



Terrain: The loop

This loop summits Col du Vam, a former above-ground rubbish dump transformed into a 63m high cycling hill and which was the key climb in the 2023 European Cycling Championship (summited 7 times and the location of the finish line). The ride also passes through wooded heathland in Dwingelderveld National

This ride snakes up the riverside cycle path on La Meuse river past quant riverside villages, branches off up a short sharp 3.5km climb and rejoins the cycle path on La Semoy river which loops back to La Meuse river cycle path.



Terrain: Terrain: 80% of the ride is on riverside cycle path, of which 18km

This loop traverses forested sand dunes through the Médoc forest around Lac de Hourtin. The ride passes through the Hourtin dunes and marshes nature reserve via the EuroVelo1 coastal cycle path (called the Vélodyssée in France) before linking up with the Voie Verte Hourtin - Lacanau, a former railway

This is a beautiful and flat ride through sand dunes of the Médoc forest starting on a section of the EuroVelo1 coastal cycle path (called the Vélodyssée in France) and linking up with wide and straight Voie Verte Lacanau - Arès, a former railway line.



Terrain: The loop comprises 97.5% cycle paths.



Caution

This loop up Col de l'Arpettaz is a hidden gem off the Annecy to Albertville cycle path. Typical of the region, the climb is tough, at 14km long and 1,140m high (from the bike path) comprising 42 switchbacks.



Recommended: Keep an eye out for a view of Mont Blanc on the way down.

This is a scenic loop through a mountainous area of Andalucia passing through a number of tunnels.

This is a beautiful ride through the Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park past limestone mountains, through huge olive fields and looping though the picturesque village of Zuheros, perched on the side of a mountain with white washed houses, castle ruins and fantatic views.



Recommended: If you have the strength

This is a picturesque loop in the mountainous Basque Country incorporating 10km of the Vía Verde del Urola.



Recommended: If you have the strength at the end of the loop try an extension from Zestoa to Endoia (4km) and on to Alto de Azurki (additional 10km, not mapped), two climbs featured in the Tour

This is a great loop on the outskirts of Girona once frequented by pro cycling teammates Lance Amstrong and George Hincapie. The loop is reachable from Girona on the Vía Verde heading south.



Recommended: Stop at Santuari de Nostra Senyora dels Àngels at the top of the first climb, one of the highest points

This loop follows the coast of the top half of Texel Island, the largest of the West Friesian Islands in North Holland. A unique element of this loop is that 10km lies outide the dyke, which encircles the island, and next to the seaside.



Recommended: Take a break from the seaside path and ride an inland

The ride loops around the oldest polder (reclaimed land formed by a dyke) in the Netherlands created in 1612, which sits at 4m below sea level and is a World Heritage site. Keep an eye out along the loop for 5 of the 42 fortresses of the Defence Line of Amsterdam, which is also a World Heritage Site

This loop takes in parts of the beautiful Veluwe, a 1,000 square kilometer predominantly wooded region. The ride passes through some nice paths of Loenermark nature reserve before looping around Veluwezoom National Park. Keep an eye out for the Giro d'Italia memorial road marking at Posbank as you descend
