With weather like this, I just had to go for a walk today...it was freezing cold 🥶, but absolutely beautiful.
Our tour took us from Fichtach down Fichtacher Berg to Effelder and then through the Effeldertal valley along the Südthüringenbahn railway line back to Mengersgereuth.

...last day of our break/holiday with our grandchild...it was a wonderful few days that we spent at the Ahornhotel Am Fichtelberg. The food was fantastic.
Today, to wrap things up, we went from the hotel to the aquarium and then hiked uphill to the Fichtelberghaus. Phil, at four years old, did great

Today's hike took us through the woods near Großbreitenbach, though due to a large and adventurous section where we had to cross a section off-trail, it's not a route you can follow exactly.
It was a beautiful autumnal walk, where the sun, the clouds, and the colorful tomatoes once again created the most

Since we had an open house yesterday, there was no time to drive home to Thuringia.
So today we went on a tour in Franconian Switzerland around Egloffstein...we went uphill and downhill on beautiful forest paths and trails – to the Devil's Gate, over the Frauenhöhle, and over to Balkenstein and Pfarrfelsen

Ich hab mich den ganzen Vormittag schon an den Frostzauber erfreut und mittags musste es dann eine Runde sein...so schön...je höher es bergauf ging, umso dicker waren Äste und Zweige vom Frost "eingepackt" - wunderschön

Today we went to Leuchtenburg Castle, primarily for the Christmas Wish Market...and...for the walk around the castle grounds.
We parked at the castle and then hiked downhill through the forest to Kahla...with beautiful light. In Kahla, we explored the town before climbing up to the Dohlenstein rock formation
