With its 12,000 hectares, the Wedeler Au regional park encompasses a landscape axis that extends in the west of Hamburg from the Elbe over the Marsch to the Geest. Parts of the Elbe marshes, inland dunes and moors are secured and preserved in seven nature conservation and FFH areas. They are embedded in a small-scale cultural landscape made up of meadows and pastures, forests and tree nurseries.
