On the summit of the Kannelberg is the historic surveying column of Station No. 80 Dragon's Head of the Royal Saxon Triangulation.

"The Royal Saxon triangulation (here with the historical proper name) is a state survey carried out in the years 1862 to 1890 on the territory of the Kingdom of Saxony with the simultaneous creation of a trigonometric network.

This is a mountain of the 8000 block line in the Ore Mountains.
Project idea: 8000 block line, the panoramic mountain bike tour in the Eastern Ore Mountains

Experience 8000 meters of altitude along the 14 8000m of the Eastern Ore Mountains and the 600m, 700m and 900m panoramic mountains between Seiffen, Blockhausen and Altenberg.

The 8000 block line is located at the southern end of the Mulde Cycle Path, on the Czech Erzgebirge Magistrale 23, the Saxon low mountain range cycle route and the Saxon Silver Road cycle path.

In summer, the two Saxon MTB highlights take place here: the Ore Mountain Bike Marathon in Seiffen (the oldest German mountain bike marathon) and the Mad East Challenge in Altenberg, as well as family MTB events such as the Kohlhau Mountain Cup in Geising.

On the 8000 block line you will get to know the most beautiful paths and trails in the Eastern Ore Mountains. Between Blockhausen in Dorfchemnitz (between Mulda and Sayda), the health resort of Altenberg and the toy-making village of Seiffen, we have designed a round trip for you that a few extreme athletes can complete in one day. All others need 3 to 7 days for this tour.

The 8000m block line connects Blockhausen, where you will find the largest exhibition of wooden sculptures by the world's best chainsaw artists, with the 8000m mountains of the Eastern Ore Mountains and the most beautiful panoramic mountains and panoramic trails in the Eastern Ore Mountains. You can enjoy 8000 meters of altitude!
