The Niederhaverbeck lake offers a good contrast to the otherwise extensive nature of the nature reserve. Surrounded by coniferous and deciduous forest, it embeds itself idyllically into the landscape. Especially worth seeing in autumn, when fog is just above the water surface.

The European noble crayfish (Astacus astacus) from the crayfish family (Astacidae) is a native crustacean species that originally lives in streams, rivers and lakes. Unfortunately, the noble crayfish is rarely found in the wild.
