Maria Magdalena Church
The ev.-luth. Parish Fulkum, 6 km south of Esens, is a small but independent parish with around 200 parishioners, which is connected to Esens through the parish. The Maria Magdalena Church, consecrated in 1862, is located in the middle of the village. Like its numerous predecessors, it was built on a terp to protect against flooding. The bell tower from the 13th century is steeply inclined a few meters from the church due to the poor building site.
