Winthrop is a lovely small Wild West town in the heart of the Northern Cascades. There are restaurants, cafés, two outfitters and accommodation. Try the ice cream along Main Street!
The town is also becoming more and more popular as a resupply point for hikers of the Pacific Crest Trail. The outfitters are well-sorted and at least one is doing the Darn Tough socks exchange.
Winthrop is known for having all of its buildings built in the style of the Wild West, making it a popular tourist destination. Winthrop is surrounded by more than 170 km of cross-country ski trails in the winter. Other activities available here include mountain climbing, hiking, mountain biking, rafting, horseback riding, hunting and fishing, and golf.
To support tourism, the Winthrop Rhythm and Blues Festival, the Methow Valley Chamber Music Festival, and theater performances are organized, and art galleries are open to visitors.
