The Strausberger Platz marked with its two towers the beginning of the GDR boulevard Karl-Marx-Allee and its buildings in the sugar confectionery style. The GDR star architect Hermann Henselmann, who had also designed the distinctive towers of the Frankfurt gate in the course of the Karl-Marx-Allee, had planned the course. The Strausberger Platz is a large urban square in the Berlin district of Friedrichshain and marks the border to the district Mitte. It is connected via the Karl-Marx-Allee with Alexanderplatz and via Lichtenberger Straße with the United Nations Square.
