The Meneham site looks great. This hamlet is characterized by its position among the blocks of rocks. Overhanging 21 meters above sea level, it offers a wide view towards the Pontusval lighthouse in Plouénour-Brignogan-Plages as far as that of Île Virginie in Plouguerneau.

The guardhouse was built between the rocks in 1756, while the village developed from the 19th century to accommodate customs officers, then workers.

Today, the site is the subject of particular attention for its preservation. A collective of associations provides activities throughout the year.

Meneham from Breton “Menez ham”, means “the hamlet behind the mountain”. Located in the town of Kerlouan, the Meneham site is located in the heart of the Pays Pagan which stretches from Goulven to Plouguerneau. Rich in 300 years of history, the Meneham site is full of life-size stories! Its birth certificate dates back to 1756, when the guardhouse was built in the middle of the rocks. As for the village, it was created in the 19th century and housed customs officers and then inhabitants living off both the land and the sea.

In the heart of the Pays Pagan (area in the Finistère department; “païen” in Breton), the town of Kerlouan enchants with its grassy dunes and its unique atmosphere. The picturesque fishing village with its thatched houses, hidden behind huge, bizarrely shaped boulders, has retained its charm from ancient times. Take a detour along the coast and the impressive rocks.
