Built in granite and framed by a cross and a superb Calvary, it is next to a small customs officer's booth perched on top of a rock. It is accessed by an irregular staircase, directly carved into the stone. Once you reach the top, all the beauty of the Pagan country coast comes into view.

A few steps from the top of Pontusval stands the Pol Chapel on a rock pile. Restored and even rebuilt in 1870, it replaced an older chapel, probably from the 16th century. This sanctuary was built on the site of a monastic asylum built by Saint Pol Aurélien, the first bishop of Léon. The chapel is framed by a pretty 17th-century cross and a magnificent Calvary with 16th-century figures. A strange stone gatehouse was built on a nearby rock for customs officials, accessed via a staircase carved directly into the rock. From this magnificent observation post, which encompasses the pagan country from the shores of Pontusval to those of Kerlouan, the Coast Guard militiamen monitored the possible approach

Built from robust granite, it stands out against the horizon, its silhouette in constant dialogue with the endless sea. As a sign of faith and devotion, it is surrounded by an impressive cross and an artistic Calvary, whose attention to detail tells stories from times long past.

A stone path, a staircase of irregular steps carved directly into the rock, leads up to the chapel. It's as if the stones reveal a piece of their history with every step. Once at the top, a panorama unfolds that takes your breath away: the wild beauty of the Pagan Land and the endless sea that stretches to the horizon.

Not far from the chapel, a peculiar stone gatehouse testifies to the vigilance of bygone times. Here, at this natural observation post, Coast Guard customs officers monitored every corner of the coast, always ready to respond to possible approaches. This gatehouse, accessible via another staircase carved directly into the rock, is a silent witness to stories of courage and determination.

The current chapel of Pol, lovingly restored and rebuilt in 1870, stands on the site where there was once an asylum of St. Pol Aurélien, the first bishop of Léon.
