A fresco on the inside of the gate tower depicts the city's founder, Bishop Bruno, and was painted in 1922 by the painter Hans Weber.

The painting on the Upper Gate commemorates the founder of the city, the Brixen bishop Bruno von Kirchberg. It shows the bishop in his regalia standing in a niche. Two putti hand him the model of Bruneck Castle. The entire scene is placed in a niche that is framed in a baroque style by richly designed columns and gables. The picture was painted in 1922 by Hans Weber.
