sturdy shoes and good physical condition required. The path is narrow, slippery, rocky and only secured in 1 place. Alternative routes are possible over 2 climbing passages.

The warning signs are absolutely appropriate on this section of the Würzlaysteig near Lehmen! Good physical condition and sturdy shoes are an absolute requirement for the approx. 2km long section through the steep slopes of the Moselle slope. The path is rocky, slippery and only secured in one place. Even when it's dry, the mixture of clay and slate chippings is difficult to walk on, when it's wet you can hardly stand on your feet. The steps, some of which are knee-high, only help to a limited extent with the permanent up and down.
The south-eastern orientation of the slope makes for scorching heat, so sufficient water should be carried as there is only a small notched valley with shade.
