The square itself serves as a parking lot. As a result, much of the flair of the place is lost. In 2013, however, the space will be redesigned as part of a larger urban renewal program in the center of Eschweg. U. a. the western part of the marketplace will again be a "real" traffic-free square in front of the beautiful half-timbered scenery at the town hall.

The actual market square is a paid parking lot ;-(
At the beginning of the market square is Eschwege's oldest church, St. Dionis. A few pretty half-timbered houses are located on both sides of the market square, and above them is the old town hall.
Every Wednesday and Saturday, the weekly market in Eschwege takes place above the market square in front of the new town hall, inviting you to stroll, browse, and shop.
For drivers who enjoy walking, I recommend the free parking lot at Werdchen, from which you can reach Eschwege's old town in just a few minutes.
