The Riddagshausen pond area owes its existence to the work of the Cistercian monks around 900 years ago. The most important ponds that are still used for fishing today are the Kreuzteich, Mittelteich and Neuer Bleeksteich as well as the Lagesteich and Spitzer Teich southeast of the monastery.
