The Windeckhaus is the largest of a group of old half-timbered houses on Orchheimer Strasse, built between 1644 and 1664. Rich carving and two hanging room windows make it one of the most beautiful half-timbered houses in the Rhineland.

Very nice half-timbered house in the heart of Bad Münstereifel.
Orchheimer Straße derives its name from a Franconian settlement that was included in the Bering during the construction of the city fortifications. The Orchheim "Tirm" [district] used to be the most populous, commercial and tax-rich district of the city.
The “Windeckehaus”, built between 1644 and 1664, is located on Orchheimer Straße. It goes beyond the scope of the other half-timbered houses in the city in terms of the design of its street gable. His master came from the middle Moselle, where houses with similar shapes can be admired.
The client was not Hofrat Windeck, who only lived there in the 18th century, but Paulus Pick, who, apart from the tax lists of the 17th century, does not appear in city files. He must have been a wealthy cloth merchant who sold his wares on the ground floor, where the scales hung in the hall between the two bay rooms. The living rooms were on the first and second floors, and above them the warehouses. Beautiful carvings adorn the gable, especially the compartments under the windows.
