Until the end of the 20th century there was only one way to get to the lovely Zagori village of Vradeto - via the so-called Steps (Skala), a winding staircase with about 1000 steps that climbed the side of a gorge (Vikos Gorge ) was built. It starts at the end of a long road from the Zagori village of Kapesovo. The accessibility of Vradeto probably explains its location in the inhospitable highlands near the top of Mount Tymfi. A street was opened in the 1970s.
