The unique kettle holes of Hirschegg are a result of the interaction of water and limestone. The traces of the Schwarzwasserbach lead to the cauldron and funnel-shaped depressions and can be explored on a nature trail. The Kessellöcher are so-called karst springs, overgrown with lush moss and often accompanied by more or less bubbling waterfalls. At times the Schwarzwasserbach has completely dried up down to the natural bridge. The play of the water masses in the whirlpool holes is withheld from the visitor at such times, but he sees the details of the many washes particularly clearly. When the water level is high enough, the Schwarzwasserbach offers a variety of opportunities for canyoning with local providers in the Kleinwalsertal.
