Like the Pöhlberg, the Bärenstein mainly consists of basalt, on the north side you can see that in an old quarry. Speaking of which, the view from the Bärenstein down to the Cranzahl dam is impressive. If you climb the 30 meter high observation tower, you can see the Fichtelberg and Klínovec in the Czech Republic.

The Berghotel Bärenstein is a popular excursion destination. It is worth eating there again after the change of operator. Be sure to visit the observation tower and walk the circular path.
