The origin of the lookout tower on the Ebersnacken dates back to 1890. At that time, a survey tower was built on the highest point of the Vogler (460 m). With subsidies and a free delivery of wood through the district of Holzminden, the wooden scaffolding was upgraded to a 13 m high tower. If the view was blocked by trees until then, the hikers in the Vogler now had a worthwhile goal, because the view from the Ebersnacken is impressive: to the west to the Hermannsdenkmal near Detmold and to the east to the Brocken the view on clear days is enough.

The new tower was built in 1922 according to Prof. Dr. med. Named Dieckhoff. Dieckhoff was the author of the guide through the Upper Weser area, which appeared in several editions. After this tower collapsed in 1946, a new tower was built in 1960, which was completely renovated in 1990 and last restored in 2000. This 26 m high tower towers above all the treetops.

On the highest elevation of the Vogler, on the Ebersnacken, the structurally quite spectacular looking tower rises, the third at this point, built in 1989. It's really fresh at the top, but you are rewarded with a wonderful view, especially of Ith and Hils in the east and of the Solling in the south. On a clear day you can see the Köterberg near Bad Driburg and even the Hermannsdenkmal and the Brocken.

At 460.4 m above sea level, the Ebersnacken is the highest peak in the densely forested Weser Uplands low mountain range, Vogler.

On the summit of the Ebersnacken stands the 26 m high Ebersnacken Tower, an open timber-framed observation tower with an internal staircase, whose viewing platform towers above the surrounding treetops.

Weighing a total of 15.5 tons, the structure was transported to the mountain in two sections with the help of a British Air Force helicopter and finally assembled there on September 6, 1989. A plaque with a report about it is located on the tower. The tower was restored in 2000.

From the tower, the view extends over the Vogler and the surrounding Weser Uplands to the west, as far as the Hermann Monument in the Teutoburg Forest, and to the east to the Harz Mountains.
