Skiddaw House youth hostel is often referred to as the most remote house in England, as it is a 3-mile (5 km) walk from the nearest road. Situated at 1,542 feet (470 m) and nestled between Skiddaw, Blencathra and Great Calva, it is a glorious location and an ideal basecamp for adventures in the Northern Fells.

the door is usually open so walkers can use the kitchen to make themselves a cup of tea or coffee. there is a box to pay for what you use. remember to clear up after yourself.

The Skiddaw House Hostel is the ideal place for a rest. You can make your own tea and use the premises. We picked up the guitar without further ado, everything is very quaint there.
