The refuge is located directly at the Valwigerberg sports field. There are plenty of parking spaces around here and you can start a lot of hiking tours from here: Either use the Moselsteig trail that runs past, which runs along the edge of the slope with great views of the Moselle valley, leads to the Eiserner Mast and across the Kabeiner Bachtal to Bruttig.
The Apolloweg starts here. As does the Brevia climbing trail (entrance at the Eiserner Mast). Or hike on the opposite side via the Dainzhof towards the Moselle and Treis-Karden on the Way of the Cross.
The Tester Chapel on the other side of the street (located in the Walf) is also worth a visit.
