The peninsula is over four kilometers long and only 200 to 500 meters wide. In the west, the peninsula ends with the Reddevitzer Höft, whose name is also used for the entire peninsula. At Reddevitzer Höft, the peninsula ends in the west with a 33 meter high cliff. The name of the point is derived from the Low German "höft" for "head".

The Reddevitzer Höft is a cliff with a steep coast at the top of the narrow promontory. Here you have a great view of the island of Vilm and you can even see the towers of Greifswald. You can only get to the very top on foot or by bike, from here you can descend down a flight of stairs to the stony beach.
