The monastery church was the church of the Franciscan monastery. Its main altar was dedicated to the apostles Peter and Paul in 1293. The main nave of the church dates from 1480 and was built in the late Gothic style. In the years 1696, 1731 and 1748, the extensions on the south side, so-called prayer rooms or lodges for wealthy Zittau residents, were built.

Monastery church of St. Peter and Paul, Zittau
The monastery church was the church of the Franciscan monastery. Its main altar was dedicated to the apostles Peter and Paul in 1293. The main nave of the church dates from 1480 and was built in the late Gothic style. In the years 1696, 1731 and 1748, the extensions on the south side, so-called prayer rooms or lodges for wealthy Zittau residents, were built. On the monastery square, the monastery church with its slim 70 m high tower and additions from different eras attracts attention. The church was the church of the Franciscan monastery. Its main altar was consecrated to the apostles Peter and Paul in 1293, hence the name Petri-Pauli Church. The church's two-aisled nave with a richly designed portal dates from the 14th/15th century. Century and was built in the late Gothic style. At the end of the 17th century, the baroque extensions were built on the south side, so-called prayer rooms or lodges for wealthy Zittau residents. The most valuable of the prayer rooms comes from the Zittau merchant Andreas Noack. The church's most valuable furnishings include the altar and pulpit from 1668/1669, a confessional from the first half of the 17th century and an important organ.
