Itzehoe Abbey awaits you in the heart of Itzehoe. Originally founded as a Cistercian abbey, it looks back on a turbulent history. However, flooding forced the nuns to relocate to its current location in 1263. After the Reformation, the monastery became a Protestant convent, which still exists today. Some of the old monastery buildings have been preserved and offer fascinating insights into the past.
