Wikipedia: Michaelsberg Abbey was an abbey of the Benedictine order. It existed from 1064 to 1803. Dismantled after secularization, the buildings served as a lunatic asylum, among other things. In 1914 the monastery was resettled by Dutch Benedictines; it was called "Benedictine Abbey Michaelsberg" and existed until 2011. The monastery building is located on the Michaelsberg, about 40 meters above the city of Siegburg. Today it houses the Catholic Social Institute of the Archdiocese of Cologne and a small Carmelite monastery.

From the abbey's inner courtyard, you have a beautiful view of the Anno 17 restaurant through the gate.
Closed on Mondays, open Sundays from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., otherwise from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Small terrace with a view of the Sieg valley.

The most famous shrine dedicated to the Archangel Michael is in France. It is the "Mont-Saint-Michel", located in the very north of the country on an island off Normandy. This unique monastery island is not only a place of worship, but also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
