The stalking mill is a 1876 built so-called Dutch mill. Until 1954, the grain of the surrounding farmers was still ground.
The stalking mill stands on historical ground. In the Prussian-Danish War of 1864, the Austrians fought on the side of the Prussians under the leadership of Major von der Thann. After the victory of the Prussian-Austrian Army, the division of the conquered territories was determined in the Treaty of Gastein (1865). The Prussians received the Duchy of Schleswig, the Austrians the Duchy of Holstein. Austria paid its rights to the King of Prussia against the payment of 2.5 million Danish Talers.

The Austrian rule rested (at least in the stalking mill) until 1996. This year, the Austrian master chef Siegmund Leypold and his wife took over the now transformed into a restaurant stalking mill and subjected them to a thorough renovation. These maintenance and renewal work will continue until today and probably in the future. For the benefit of the guests.

Today, the stalking mill is run as a cozy restaurant with a special focus on fine alpine cuisine. The stalking mill has acquired an excellent reputation as a stylish setting for more than 1,000 weddings. But also on other family and official occasions, the stalking mill is the location of choice.
